Safety Tips and Requirements

Learn to Swim.

The most important thing you can do to stay safe in and around water is learn to swim.  However, keep in mind even the strongest swimmers need to be familiar with factors that impact the conditions in the water such as weather, tides, currents and undertows.

**If caught in a rip current, don't fight the current. Swim PARALLEL to the shore until you can safely swim to the shore. If you can't escape, float or tread water while calling or waving for assistance.

Wear a Life Vest.

All riders must wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life vest, at all times, regardless of ability to swim.

Watch the Weather.

Know the local weather conditions and prepare for adverse conditions accordingly.  Get out of the water as soon as you see or hear a storm approaching.

Alcohol and Boating Don't Mix.

Alcohol impairs your judgement, balance, reaction time and coordination. USE OF ALCOHOL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
